Major Requirements

1.  Introductory Requirement

a. ______ EN 110: Introduction to Literary Studies. This course satisfies the college Writing Requirement.

*Prospective 英语 majors are strongly encouraged to take EN 110 prior to enrolling in 200-level courses.

b. ______ One class from 形式 of Language and Literature (210, 211, 213, 215, 217, 219, 222W, 228, 245, 251, 253, 254, 280, 281, 282) 

c. ______ One class from Language and Literature in Context (221, 223, 224, 225, 226, 227, 229, 230, 235, 238, 239, 242, 244, 246, 249)

2. ______ Five classes from Advanced Courses in Language and Literature (311, 312, 313, 314, 315, 316, 322, 323, 324, 325, 327, 331, 337, 338, 341, 342, 343, 344, 345, 346, 347, 348, 350, 351, 352, 359, 360, 361, 362, 363, 364, 371, 377, 378, 379, 380 [only one of the five can be 377, 378, 379, or 380])

*Prerequisites: Before taking 300-level classes, students must fulfill requirements A, b, c.

3. ______ One Capstone Experience, satisfied in most cases by a Senior Seminar. 学生 with appropriate preparation and 教师 permission may instead choose the senior thesis or project options. 顶点的选择 are restricted to senior 英语 majors.

4. ______ One additional course at the 200 or 300 level (excluding the Senior Seminars)

5. Literary History Requirement: One course, at either the 200 or the 300 level, must be designated in each of the early, middle, and late periods as categorized below:

Early (pre-1700): EN 225, EN 228E, EN 229E, EN 230, EN 329, EN 332, EN 341, EN 342, EN 343, EN 344, EN 345, EN 346, EN 347, EN 348, EN 362 

Middle (1700-1900): EN 222W, EN 228M, EN 229M, EN 249, EN 315, EN 316, EN 322, EN 331, EN 337, EN 350, EN 351, EN 352, EN 354

Late (post-1900): EN 217, EN 221, EN 228L, EN 229L, EN 237, EN 238, EN 242, EN 244, EN 245, EN 246, EN 253, EN 311, EN 312, EN 313, EN 314, EN 325, EN 326, EN 327, EN 328, EN 338, EN 359
