第九条 Regulations Update

Dear Members of the Skidmore Community,

On May 6, 2020, the Department of 教育 announced new 第九条 regulations, with which all colleges and universities in the United States must comply, effective 2020年8月14日. This requirement comes after the Department proposed these regulations for public review on November 16, 2018. Skidmore responded to this posting in two formal letters: one as a member of the New York Six Consortium 另一个是 one of 24 private, liberal arts colleges and universities.

火博体育大学 remains strongly committed to its efforts to combat sexual and gender-based misconduct, support victims and survivors of these acts, and protect our community through a fair and unbiased hearing process. 火博体育大学 prohibits all forms of sexual and gender-based discrimination, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, intimate-partner violence, and stalking.

The 总统’s Cabinet and the 学生事务 第九条 Working Group, led by Vice 总统 Cerri Banks, have been closely monitoring this situation and evaluating the effects these regulations will have on our community. With a few new members added since the release of the regulations, members of the working group are the following:

As this group works to finalize recommendations and meet the August 14 deadline, it will consult widely with 教师 and staff about the implications of these new regulations. There will be opportunities for community members to ask questions and provide comments 和反馈. In the weeks and months to come, regular updates to the community will be provided, as we explore next steps and consider adjustments to our 第九条 policies 和程序.
